Hello, my name is Roy Goodell. I am the new Principal at Drake/Anamoose High School. I am married to Lori Goodell, who is the third grade teacher at Anamoose/Drake Elementary School.

I am a native of Montana, born and raised in Great Falls. I graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Jamestown College where I studied History/Political Science Education with an emphasis in coaching. I also played Quarterback for the Jimmies and pitched for the baseball team for a short while.

After graduation I did my student teaching back in Fairfield, MT and took my first teaching job the next year in Poplar, MT. I was the 8th grade social studies teacher and head boy’s basketball coach. Wanting to get closer to home I took a job in Grass Range, MT as a history teacher and head football coach. I also agreed to be their counselor, but after the year the position was cut and I decided to attend graduate school.

The following year I attended Montana State University and earned my Masters of Science in Special Education. This is also where I met my wife, who had also just graduated with her education degree. Having a hard time finding jobs, we moved to Nevada. We spent seven wonderful years there teaching and coaching. Also during this time Lori gave birth to Paige and Karli, the two little darlings of my life. During our years there we studied at Grand Canyon University and both earned our Masters degree’s in Education Administration.

With the fall of the economy and the state of education in the state of Nevada, we decided to move back closer to home. That is what brought us to Drake/Anamoose. We are so excited to be here and look forward to the time we spend here.
