The 4th graders have been learning a lot about medieval Europe. They have learned what life was like and what jobs were available in the Middle Ages. They even decided to build a castle in the back of their classroom! 🏰

Today was AWESOME! The Anamoose Elementary students were visited by Kevin Lovegreen, author of the Lucky Luke book series. Kevin kicked off the day by greeting everyone in the gym, discussing all the steps an author has to go through to publish a book, and quizzing students on different animal calls. After the school wide assembly, he spent time in each classroom, working with students on their writing skills. Kevin lives in Minnesota and writes books based on his childhood hunting and fishing experiences. We were excited to have the opportunity for the students to participate in this unique experience.📚🦌🎣🫎

How long would the list of things you have to be thankful for be? The students, staff and teachers from both Anamoose and Drake all wrote down three things they were grateful for and together we created this giant chain of gratitude! The grades in the elementary were to guess how long the chain would be. The total length was 112 ft. 2nd and 6th grade came in closest with their guesses and won a treat for their class!! The chain will be displayed in the Drake city park under the sheltered picnic area.

The Kindergarten class made a Thankful Tree and asked everyone in the elementary to add their own "thankful leaves." It's starting to fill up! This was a great opportunity for all of us to see how much there is to be grateful for.🍂🤎

Celebration of Music was held today at MSU campus. Students from around the area spent the day practicing and preparing for the concert that was held this evening at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. It is always amazing to watch their work come together, and their performance was wonderful and heartwarming. We had seven students perform tonight and as always, we are so proud of each of them. I am always mesmerized by their ability to learn these pieces so quickly and perform them so effortlessly. Wonderful job, everyone! 🖤🤍🖤🤍

The 2023 school garden season was very successful! This year, Deb kept track of how much produce was picked all season. Once the numbers were gathered, Miss Gilbertson created a bulletin board in the hallway to share with everyone, showcasing the price of seeds, yield picked, and average value if bought from a grocery store. There was also a schoolwide contest guessing how many pumpkins were picked and how heavy the biggest pumpkin weighed (it was a lot lighter than it looked!). All the data is shown in the pictures below.   The school garden is fortunate to have so many great helping hands! A special thanks goes to Deb and Kevin Reinowski, Elaine Zakopyko, Linda Dusek, and the students and staff from the 21st Century after school program and/or summer program. 🥦🥒🥕🌽
